Along the Malecón: Inspectors rip Office of Cuba Broadcasting
Inspectors visiting the Office of Cuba Broadcasting found low morale, a lack of transparency in decision making, administrative weaknesses, security lapses and one instance of property theft.
An Inspector General's report casts a negative light on the agency's leaders, including Director Carlos A. Garcia-Perez, who took charge four years ago this month.
The 34-page report also provides interesting details about the agency's efforts in Cuba. It says the OCB has "engaged in an aggressive campaign to distribute weekly its television programming content via broadcast, Internet, and even hand-to-hand, via digital video disks (DVD) and flash drives."

Hyper-capitalist USA
In hyper-capitalist USA, even war is turned into a very
lucrative business enterprise.
Social responsibility does not exist in such a system. Making
money, by any means necessary, is the first commandment of that
irresponsible system/religion.

Partial English translation:
Raising money to defray the costs of the liberation war, which was commanded by Fidel Castro, led the July 26 Movement to issue a $1 bond in the United States similar to that used inside Cuba.
They are marked Edición Exterior, (exterior edition).
They bear the signature of the Commander in Chief of the Cuban Revolution.
actualidad.

It is time for the Cuban Government to eliminate the $130 "visa" for people who were born in the island
I was born in 1944 in El Vedado, La Habana, Cuba.
The demand of the Cuban Government that I give them $130 dollars to visit the place where I was born is, in my opinion, an act of extortion.
Google launches Play and Analytics in Cuba following CEO Eric Schmidt’s call to end the US embargo
Following on from the recent release of its Chrome browser in Cuba, Google is expanding its product offerings in the Carribbean island. The company is launching Google Play and Google Analytics in the country today. (thenextweb.com)
Eric Schmidt:
“Cuba will have to open its political and business economy, and the US will have to overcome our history and open the embargo. Both countries have to do something that is hard to do politically, but it will be worth it.”
JG: poor use of the English language by Mr. Schmidt. I would have used "may have" instead of "will have."

Spain and Cuba Deepen Relations
Created on Thursday, 27 November 2014 11:33
Agencia Cubana de Noticias (Cuban News Agency)
HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 27 (acn) The recent visit to Cuba by Spanish foreign minister Jose Manuel García-Margallo was particularly focused on the further development of bilateral economic and commercial relations between Madrid and Havana, as Spain has been the island´s third major commercial partner for years.
In an end-of-the-visit statement García-Margallo stressed the role being played by Cuba as part of the community of Latin American nations and he went on to say that his trip takes place amidst the normal bilateral relations between Spain and the rest of Latin America.
The top Spanish diplomat held talks with first vice-president Miguel Diaz-Canel, with government vice-president Ricardo Cabrisas and with foreign minister Bruno Rodriguez.
In April, Cuba and the European Union opened negotiations towards an accord to hold political and cooperation talks. The island accepted the negotiations on similar grounds and with respect for the sovereignty of the states and the principle of non-interference in their internal affairs.
Cuba is one of the few countries in Latin America that does not have such an accord in its relations with the European Union, due to the so-called Common European Pposition, which was adopted in 1996 by the bloc posing restrictions on relations with the island.
European Parliament vice-president Miguel Angel Martinez said that the lack of such an accord is harmful to Cuba and also to Europe, particularly damaging the European image before Latin American and other Third World nations for which the island is an example of solidarity.
Meanwhile, European Union ambassador to Havana, Herman Portocarero praised the opportunities offered by Cuba to foreign capital due to the highly-skilled labor, its geographical situation and its regional integration efforts.
While an accord is still to be reached to hold the political dialog between Cuba and the European Union, several visits by high-level European officials have taken place, including the state minister of the British Foreign Ministry, Hugo Swire.
Swire said that his presence on the island showed the support by his country of the economic changes taking place in Cuba and he underscored his interest that British entrepreneurs come to Havana.
The European stance against the US economic, commercial and financial blockade of Cuba was reiterated this year at the United Nations and during his recent visit here, the Spanish foreign minister recalled that gesture in the name of his country and the European bloc.

Is President Barack Obama contemplating unilateral [friendly?] action on Cuba? IT IS ABOUT TIME MR. PRESIDENT!
to go to the Christian Science Monitor article.
JG: SKIP THE VIDEO. All it does is to promote the sale of a book. The only "news" is that "Obama is slated to take part in the Summit of the Americas in Panama [in 2015], which is expected to be the first such hemispheric gathering to include Cuba."
Barack Obama continues with the failed policies of the past with regards to Cuba. I am very SKEPTICAL that he will offer anything "new". His administration continuation of the failed Cuba embargo has been thoroughly repudiated by 188 civilized countries at the United Nations.
I do not have a very high regard for the articles of the Christian Science Monitor. All they do very well is to engage in a lot of speculation.
Stay tuned!

Cuba Baseball Teams
Since this graphic was published, two new baseball teams have been created: Artemisa and Mayabeque. They are two new provinces which were carved out of the former La Habana province.
Three Cuban Baseball Players have risen above everyone else in the first 30-33 games of the 54th National Baseball Series
Statistics do no lie. Most teams in the 54th Cuban National Baseball Series have now played 30-33 games. 14 teams have reached those numbers, and two teams have played 28-29 games.
You have to have played in at least 30 games at this point of the baseball season to be in the list.
I use two very important baseball statistics to separate the great players from the rest of the crowd.
The first one is Slugging Percentage (SLU) and the second one is On Base Percentage (OBP). I just add the two ratios together, and if you are at or above .975, you deserve to be called an outstanding player.
Here are the outstanding players:
1) Giorbis Duvergél, Guantánamo, games 33, SLU .634, OBP .530.
2) Yosvani Alarcón, Las Tunas, 31 games, SLU .615, OBP .415.
3) Yadiel Hernández, Matánzas, 33 games, SLU .504, OBP .497
I am sure that after the regular 90 games have been played, there will be more on this list.

The irresponsible and violent behavior of black Americans in Ferguson, Missouri
By JIM SALTER and DAVID A. LIEB (AP) 21 minutes ago
FERGUSON, Mo. (AP) — Missouri's governor ordered more National Guardsmen into Ferguson on Tuesday to keep order after a night of violence over the grand jury decision in the police shooting of Michael Brown, as attorneys for the Brown family lashed out at the authorities' handling of the case.
Smoke billowed from the blackened shells of burned-out Ferguson businesses on Tuesday, and glass littered the sidewalks in front of stores whose display windows were smashed during the protests that erupted after it was announced that police Officer Darren Wilson wouldn't be indicted for killing Brown on Aug. 9.
Monday night's protests were far more destructive than any of those that followed Brown's death, with more than a dozen businesses badly damaged or destroyed. Authorities reported hearing hundreds of gunshots, which for a time prevented fire crews from fighting the flames.
There were 61 arrests in Ferguson overnight, many for burglary and trespassing, St. Louis County Police spokesman Brian Schellman said. There were 21 arrests in St. Louis, where protesters broke some store windows along South Grand Avenue, St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay said.

Pope Francis to Europe: Help the Migrants
STRASBOURG, France (Reuters) - Pope Francis told Europe's leaders on Tuesday to do more to help thousands of migrants risking their lives trying to get into the continent, saying they had to stop the Mediterranean becoming "a vast cemetery".
Addressing the European Parliament for the first time, Francis also said Europe should create jobs and not allow the bureaucracy of its institutions to suffocate the ideals which once made it vibrant.
